  Phalaenopsis (maculata x venosa)
Maculata is miniature epiphyte or lithophyte found in Borneo and Sulawesi. The background of the flower is yellow-white with irregular red blotches. Venosa blooms in the summer and fall on an erect,  simple or branched, few flowered inflorescence with successive opening, unpleasantly fragrant [crushed centipede] flowers, greenish brown to reddish brown. The habitat for this species is wet year round so even water and fertilizer year round.. These near blooming size plants are in 2 inch pots, $15.

 

Phalaenopsis Philishill  (philippinense x x schilleriana)
This hybrid and the one below are obviously primary hybrids and will be very different from the modern complex hybrids. Plants are two years from blooming in 2 1/4 inch pots, $15.

 

Phalaenopsis Venus (lindenii x equestris)
Miniature pink breeding, plants are very small and blooming size. In 3.5 inch pot, $20.

SPECIES
Doritis pulcherrima var. champorensis 'White'
This is the only species in this genus, but it is highly variable and represented by these two forms. Plant in a 4 inch pot, $20.

Phalaenopsis amboinensis
These flowers have a yellow background with red bars. Blooming size plant in 5 inch pot, $30; large blooming size plants in 6 inch baskets, $40. Check the size and click on "Add to Cart".

Phalaenopsis bastianii x sib
Found in The Philippines in the Sulu Archipelago as a small to medium sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte.  Blooms in the spring through fall on an erect,   branched inflorescence with each branch carrying from 2 to 7, flat, glossy flowers very similar to P mariae but differs in the erect inflorescence and very flat floral features of the flower of P bastianii.  Large blooming size plant in 5 inch pot, $35.

Phalaenopsis bellina formerly Phalaenopsis violacea var. Borneo
This is a small sized, hot growing epiphyte from Malaysia and Borneo. Here it grows in shady, humid, lowland and swampy forests low down on trees often near or on branches overhanging stream banks. It blooms in the summer and fall on a  few flowered inflorescence with 2 to 3, highly fragrant flowers open at a time.  Near blooming size plant in 2 inch pot, $18; blooming size plants in 3 inch pots, $22. Phalaenopsis cornu-cervi x sib('Red' x 'Red Star')('Red' x self)or('Red' x Damlong')
Cute little species with yellow star shaped flowers normally covered with yellow-brown bars and spots. Many of these have been blooming out solid reds. Blooming plants in 2 inch pot, $22.

  Phalaenopsis deliciosa aka Kingidium deliciosum
A miniature plant found in Asia, India, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines in forests at elevations below 600.  It is temperature tolerant  epiphyte which grows best mounted.  It blooms on a branching, many flowered inflorescence with the sequentially opening flowers facing all directions occurring at any time and more than once a year if well grown. Blooming size plant in a 3 inch pot, $18.

  Phalaenopsis fuscata
This small to medium sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte is found in the shady lowland and hill forests of Sumatra, Peninsular Malaysia, Borneo and the Philippines. This species produces yellow flowers with orange brown barring, and the lip is unusual. The sepals tend to be rolled backwards and are cupped. The fragrant, waxy flowers are produced in the spring and summer.  Blooming size plant in 3-3.5 inch pots, $20. 

Phalaenopsis gibbosa x sib
Miniature epiphyte from Vietnam and Laos. Slender inflorescens with 8-10 white , greenish suffused, flowers. Recently introduced into cultivation but not rare in nature. They grow best in warm to hot temperatures.  Blooming size plants are mounted and $30. 

Phalaenopsis gigantea
As the name implies, this grows to be a LARGE Phalaenopsis. The flowers are white with reddish-lavender markings. Plants in  4  inch pots are several years to blooming. $25.

Phalaenopsis hieroglyphica
This species is a medium sized, pendant growing epiphyte found in the hot, humid, shady, forests the Philippines on the islands of Polillo and Palawan. Blooms in the spring producing long-lasting, glossy, showy, simultaneously opening flowers.  If the inflorescence if still green and undamaged it can re-flower year after year.  Near blooming size plant in 2.5 inch pots, $18. 

  Phalaenopsis inscriptiosinensis x sib
The "Chinese Character Phalaenopsis" is found in central Sumatra. This hot to warm growing epiphyte blooms in the summer with sequentially opening flowers carrying 2 to 3 open at a time.  This is not P. sumatrana.  Near blooming size plant in 3 inch pot, $30.

Phalaenopsis lueddemanniana
This small to medium sized, hot growing, epiphyte is found in the Philippines at low elevations.  Culturally it does best in  a hot environment with plenty of water year round and low levels of light. This species has 3 to 5, fragrant, long lasting, fleshy, waxy flowers (a yellow  or red color form) and blooms in the spring through summer.  Leave green viable inflorescence since they are likely to bloom again.  Blooming size plant in 3 inch pot, $18.

Phalaenopsis mannii x sib ('JG' x 'Black')
This pendulous growing epiphyte is found through the eastern Indian Himalayas, Assam, Nepal, Bhutan, Sikkim, Myanamar, southern China and Vietnam. Grow warm, and  shady with a distinctly drier winter rest that helps initiate spring blooming. Fragrant, waxy, long-lived flowers appear in succession. This is the typical form with a yellow ground color and brown markings. This species blooms in the spring. Near blooming size plant in 3.5  inch pot, $25

  Phalaenopsis mannii x sib  (aurea form)
This grex may not be typical and may have much more yellow color in the background. Near blooming size plant in 2 1/4 inch pot, $20

  Phalaenopsis mariae
This is a species native to Borneo and the Philippines. These plants will have evergreen stems of waxy cream blooms with vibrant burgundy-red barring and a matching lip . Plants are compact with glossy, bright green foliage. They are grown best in low light and moderate temperatures. Blooming season will be spring-summer. Plants in 3.5 inch pot, $22.

Phalaenopsis sanderiana var. alba
Imagine the flowers at the left, whithout the pink blush. Near blooming size plants in 4 inch pot, $25.

Phalaenopsis stuartiana
Found on the island of Mindano in the Philippines. This medium sized epiphyte with marbled leaves can carry many faintly fragrant flowers. Well established vigorous plants are two years from blooming in 2 1/2 inch pot, $20.

Phalaenopsis schilleriana x sib
The popular clone of this species say's it all 'Pink Butterflies'. Near blooming size plants in 4.0 inch pot, $25.
 

Phalaenopsis sumatrana (Malaya type x sib)
A warm to hot growing, medium sized, epiphyte found in Sumatra, Borneo and the Malay pennisula as well as the Philippines. Flower is white overlaid with red markings. The lip is very unusual in that it is very hairy. Near blooming size plant in 4 inch pot, $25. 

Phalaenopsis tetraspis
Found in Sumatra, the Andaman Islands and Nicobar islands  near sea level.  It is medium sized, hot growing epiphyte which blooms in the Spring on a many flowered inflorescence.  The flowers are fleshy, glossy, and fragrant.  Near blooming size plant in 3 inch pot, $20.

  Phalaenopsis venosa
This medium sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte is  found in the Celebes Islands in Indonesia at low elevations. The inflorescence is branched and produces a few flowers which open successively.  The ochre colored flowers have an unpleasant fragrance, described as crushed centipede??. The habitat for this species is wet year round so water and fertilize year round. Near blooming size plant in 3 inch pot, $18.

Phalaenopsis violacaea aka var. Malaysia
This pendulous epiphyte is found in the Malaya peninsula and the Island of Sumatra at low elevations.  It is warm growing,  and in the spring produces extremely fragrant flowers that are borne one by one in succession with 2 to 3 open at any one time. This species requires deep shade and high humidity as well as being watered regularly and should never be allowed to dry out completely.
